I met Carlos and Ruthanna almost 10 years ago during my first visit to Puerto Escondido. They are an amazing, honest couple who have helped me with everything from learning to fish and surf, Spanish lessons, and where the best restaurants in town are...

Our stay in Puerto Escondido was wonderful! Our morning walks along the shore were refreshing! After the walks we could sit for a while in an open air cafe and watch the surfers while enjoying a healthy breakfast before the walk back. We enjoyed the small, yet very international feel of the town. We really enjoyed the architecture and local art.

Carlos and Ruthanna at Azulea Adventures were gracious hosts. We felt like family from the start! They guided us through the beautiful Oaxaca area. The help they gave us with translating, food, and culture made our trip peaceful. We had many opportunities to surf, swim, fish, visit beautiful beaches, markets, meet locals, ride horses, hike, and much more!
We feel that our 2 week stay was only the beginning! We hope to go back again and again!

Several years ago, my husband, Tony, and I enjoyed one of our top 10 vacations in Puerto Escondido as guests of the Peralta family.

We are not Spanish-speaking, so we let Carlos and Ruthanna design our stay. They asked us for our preferences and then provided all we needed. We explored the best of the local eateries. We visited off-the-map beaches, went on hikes, took in the farmers’ market, and even shared a cooking class featuring the regional specialties. We also had ample time to simply hang out in the shade of trees by our bungalow. We loved being part of their community. We came as strangers, we left as friends...a most memorable holiday.
